Diagnosis: The nodes that enclose the varnished copper wire of the winding are somewhat worn. The wire does not make good contact. This piece is made out of a metal insert in plastic. It seems to be of poor quality.
Consequence:  it turns on intermittently
Action: Cutting of the wire, a winding of the coil is removed (so that the wire         reaches the node). Although one of the coils remains with one less winding, it is the solution not to do a complete rewinding (the cost would imply almost a new one). The lathe works again.
